How to Make a Claim

Our aim, as much as we possibly can, is to take the stress out of making a claim. First of all, some important steps you may need to take for your own safety and wellbeing.

  • In the case of an emergency, please take all steps necessary to prevent further damage from occurring.
  • If you feel the situation is unsafe, clear the area and contact emergency services.
  • Advise the police in the event of a crime, or lost or stolen property (and obtain a copy of the police report number).
  • Do not admit liability to anyone involved.

Make contact with Finchley Insurance Brokers as soon as possible.

  • During business hours, please contact us so we can assist with emergency repairs or advice.
  • Outside of business hours, please use an information service to contact a restoration company, tow service or emergency trades person.
  • Or call our After Hours Emergency Number: 1300 622 600

Where safe to do so, it is a good idea to take as many photos as you can to outline the extent of the damage before repairs are commenced or to provide proof of loss.
It is your duty to minimise any damage to your premises should an incident occur.

We will email a claim acknowledgement to you within 48 hours of the completed claim form being received by us, outlining the next steps.

We are here to help with any queries you may have along the way. Feel free to call our Claims Team at any time. You may also wish to refer to our FAQ sheet for the more common queries.

CLAIM FAQ’s

Here are some ways to assist the settlement of your claim.

  • In the case of a motor vehicle accident, please either supply a quotation or advise the name of your chosen repairer as soon as possible. Please pay your excess when requested to avoid incurring further claims costs.
  • In the event of a property claim, please submit photos of the damage, damage reports and quotations for repair.
  • For lost or stolen items, please supply proof of forced entry, copies of police reports, proof of ownership and replacement quotes. It is a good idea to retain receipts or valuations for any valuable item in the event of a claim.
  • Once the claim is lodged, please refer any third party queries on to us and also forward any third party correspondence. Do not discuss the claim further with the third party once it has been lodged as this can jeopardise your cover.
